SUMMARY:6th Annual “Premier Drams” Whiskey Festival
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, October 26\, renowned whiskey expert and collector Bill Thomas\, along with his award-winning Washington\, DC whiskey mecca Jack Rose Dining Saloon\, will once again host their very own whiskey festival: the 6th Annual “Premier Drams” – a “celebration of cask-strength\, new and rare.” Self-described as “not your typical whisk(e)y festival\,” this day-long tasting features 25+ curated stations of unique bourbons\, ryes\, scotches and international whiskeys\, plus blind tastings\, craft cocktails\, distiller meet-and-greets and more from 12 pm to 4 pm. \nHundreds of whiskey lovers near and far descend on DC for the anticipated festival (which sells out in just weeks every year)\, to taste oddities reaching beyond the basic bottles found on liquor store shelves. Guests can expect both acclaimed and new US distilleries and brands such as Kentucky’s Willett\, Wilderness Trail\, Kentucky Peerless\, New Riff\, Brown Forman\, Bardstown Bourbon Company\, Kentucky Senator\, Binder’s Stash\, Jim Beam\, Green River and Fountain Run; and American whiskeys from High Wire\, Uncle Nearest\, Penelope\, Rare Character\, Found North\, Proof & Wood\, Pursuit Spirits\, Seelbach’s and Field of Dreams. \nScotch-lovers can taste cask-strength single malts hand-picked by Scotch Malt Whisky Society and Single Cask Nation\, plus unique releases from Scotland’s Kilchoman\, Port Askaig and Laphroaig. Attendees can also explore the world through whisk(e)y\, with tastings of international expressions hailing from Japan (Suntory and High Road Spirits) and India (Amrut)\, plus Armagnac from L’Encantada. SUMMARY:5th Annual LAWNtoberfest
DESCRIPTION:Hi-Lawn\, the expansive 1000-person rooftop bar atop Union Market\, is celebrating all-things-fall with its 5th annual “Lawntoberfest” celebration on Sunday\, October 26 from 1-8pm. The all-ages day of festivities features pumpkin painting\, live music\, DC Brau beer tastings\, themed bingo and trivia games\, autumnal fare and more seasonal fun. \nThroughout the celebration\, guests can enjoy fresh apple cider donuts and caramel apples\, plus seasonal pies from Ravenhook Bakehouse. \nGourds abound\, as attendees can pick and paint their own pumpkins\, and can share a photo of the finished product on social media (tagging @hilawndc) to enter to win prizes. \nBeer-lovers should stop by between 1-3pm\, when DC Brau will host a tap takeover and pour complimentary tastings of their beers. \nHi-Lawn is bringing fun and games to the urban rooftop in the form of free-to-play themed trivia and bingo from 1-4pm\, plus communal lawn games all day\, including cornhole\, ladder toss\, giant Connect Four\, bean bag toss\, giant Jenga\, giant UNO and more. There will also be a 360-degree photobooth from Allstar Pix from 1-5pm to capture all the fall memories. \nLocal musicians will play free live music on the lawn from 3-6pm. \nAnd guests are welcome to set up their own picnic blankets on the lawn\, bringing Hi-Lawn’s picnic vibes to life. \nHi-Lawn’s Lawntoberfest celebration is free to attend and open to the public.
