SUMMARY:4th Annual Mid-Autumn Night Market
DESCRIPTION:Michelin-honored Cantonese restaurant Tiger Fork and its sister bar Hi-Lawn present their “4th Annual Mid-Autumn Night Market” – a traditional Chinese festival celebration on September 24. They will once again transform the 1000-person rooftop atop Union Market\, plus the building’s second-level Dock5 event space\, into a lively two-floor Hong Kong night market\, decked out with illuminated lanterns\, food stalls from guest chefs\, pop-up shops from local artisans\, cultural performances\, late-night DJs\, baijiu and sake bars\, mooncakes and more. \nThis is Tiger Fork & Hi-Lawn’s semiannual collaborative night market\, which continually sell out and draw more than 4\,000 attendees. Mid-Autumn is the second most important festival in China after Chinese New Year\, and is a reunion time for families\, celebrated by gathering for dinners\, worshiping the moon\, and eating mooncakes\, etc. Tiger Fork & Hi-Lawn are bringing more than two dozen local restaurants and vendors to celebrate under the moon on one of DC’s largest rooftops. \nTiger Fork’s executive chef Simon Lam will cook savory street food-inspired fare and unique sweets alongside 16+ guest chefs/restaurants such as the new-this-year Rose Ave Bakery and Purple Patch\, plus returning favorites like Love\, Makoto\, China Chilcano\, Canton Disco\, CHIKO\, Paris x Puff Cookies and Toimoi (with more to be announced soon) at food stands throughout the open-air rooftop and the covered Dock5 event space. \nNo mooncake festival is complete without its namesake sweets\, and several bakeries will serve symbolic\, creative mooncakes. \nGuests can peruse specialty gifts and wares from pop-up market stalls throughout the celebration. \nFestival drinkers will enjoy complimentary tastings of Japanese whisky from High Road Spirits and soju from YOJU\, plus a special Baijiu + Sake Bar\, pouring China’s national spirit\, plus an assortment of sake\, and other liquor\, themed cocktails\, beer and wine. \nThere will also be cultural performances such as lion dancing from Shaolin Hung Fut Kung Fu School\, family-friendly activities\, a dumpling eating competition sponsored by Laoban\, and a DJ to keep the spirited energy going all night long. \nEntry to Tiger Fork’s 4th Annual Mid-Autumn Night Market is $5 and tickets are available on Eventbrite.
