DESCRIPTION:The National Building Museum will host a special book talk with photographer\, author\, and exhibition curator Andrew Feiler discussing his book A Better Life for Their Children: Julius Rosenwald\, Booker T. Washington\, and the 4\,978 Schools that Changed America. \nBorn to Jewish immigrants\, Julius Rosenwald rose to lead Sears\, Roebuck & Company and used his philanthropy to support educational opportunities for Black communities in the Jim Crow South. Working alongside Booker T. Washington and local communities\, the Rosenwald Fund helped build thousands of schools that educated generations of Black students and laid important groundwork for the Civil Rights Movement. \nDuring this program\, Feiler will discuss the history behind the Rosenwald Schools initiative – including exploring the extraordinary partnership between Julius Rosenwald and Booker T.
