DESCRIPTION:Dance the night away with Maryland Ensemble Theatre for their 20th annual Retro Prom fundraiser! Inspired by decades of fabulous prom attire\, Retro Prom encourages guests to dress their best for prom of any time period or special interest. Attendees will dance to music by Benefactor Events\, enjoy dinner & desserts by The Savory Spoon Catering Co.\, drinks served by MET Ensemble Members at the Retro Prom Cash Bar\, and taking fun prom photos with Spence Photographics. Donate to MET to support performance and education programs and enter a raffle to win cool prizes! \nRona Mensah\, MET Ensemble Member\, and longtime Retro Prom organizer\, shared\, “It’s hard to believe that we have had this much fun for 20 years! It’s really wonderful to have an event that not only supports Maryland Ensemble Theatre\, but is truly a FUN –raiser!” \nMaryland Ensemble Theatre is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and regional ensemble theatre company serving over 13\,000 patrons and students—residents of Frederick County and throughout the region—through performing arts and arts education programs. All proceeds from this event support MET’s mission to bring accessible performances and performing arts education programs to Frederick. \nTICKETS AND TABLES\nRetro Prom will be held at the William Talley Recreation Center at 121 North Bentz Street\, Frederick\, MD on Saturday\, March 15th from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.. \nGeneral admission tickets are priced at $70 and will increase to $80 on March 13th. Tables for 4 are available at $340\, tables for 8 at $680\, tables for 10 at $850\, and tables for 12 at $1\,020. Tickets and tables can be purchased by phone at (301) 694-4744\, online at www.marylandensemble.org\, or in person at the MET box office\, open Tuesday to Thursday\, 12 – 6 p.m.\, Fridays 12 – 4 p.m. and one hour before performances. \nAdmission to this event is 21+ only. Attendees must bring a government issued identification and be prepared to show it at the door before entry.

DESCRIPTION:On Sunday\, March 16\, 2025\, the National Museum of Women in the Arts (NMWA) will present a Creative’s Keynote with Sandra Jackson-Dumont\, Director and CEO of the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art\, to discuss the power of visual storytelling. Attendees will learn about the role of narrative art in influencing societies\, innovative approaches to curating projects\, and ways to create space for a wide range of perspectives and ideas. \nCo-founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson\, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is the first museum dedicated to the art of illustrated stories across cultures and times. The Lucas Museum’s mission is to inspire and connect people through the exploration of visual stories and their influences in society. \nThe talk will be followed by a salon-style cocktail hour from 7 to 8 pm. \nAbout Sandra Jackson-Dumont\nSandra Jackson-Dumont is a curator\, author\, educator\, administrator\, and public advocate for reimagining the role of art museums in society. She is currently the director and chief executive officer of the new Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Los Angeles\, where she oversees all curatorial\, educational\, public\, and operational affairs for the fast-developing institution. \nThroughout her roles in some of the country’s most renowned museums\, she has collaborated with living artists\, communities\, creatives\, and historical materials. Her work catalyzes the presence of increasingly dynamic and diverse audiences in cultural spaces while exploring issues of relevance.
