Park Hyatt Washington D.C. will host a Fall 2024 Park Hyatt Masters of Food & Wine, a seasonal culinary & beverage experience on Saturday, September 21. This unique gathering salutes the ingredients, flavors, and talents of local chefs, regional artisans, and sommeliers.
On September 21, guests will join visiting Valrhona Corporate Executive Pastry Chef Luke Frost, with Park Hyatt Washington D.C.’s Pasty Chef Colleen Murphy, and Blue Duck Tavern’s Chef de Cuisine Andrew Cleverdon. Each participant will explore afternoon tea fare, pastries, and exceptional chocolate delights while also enjoying single-origin teas curated by Palais des Thés.
This unique experience is priced at $150 per person. It begins with a tea tasting, poured tableside of single-origin white, green, and black teas, guided by tea expert and Food Service Manager Emilie Mena of Palais des Thés, and culminates with a second tasting of Oolong and Pu’er. Guests will also be treated to a demonstration of the mille-feuille (also known as a Napoleon) conducted by Chef Frost. Sweets at the tea tasting include Pecan Praline Scones with apricot and almond jam; Milleᶾ of vanilla and raspberry, as well as a Francoli Tart of almond and lemon.
Following the first tea-tasting experience and demonstration, guests will mingle at a reception of passed teatime-inspired fare created by Blue Duck Tavern’s Chef de Cuisine Andrew Cleverdon, which includes Foie Gras with rooibos gelée and peach mostarda; Lapsang Souchong Cured Salmon with smoked roe, as well as a Crab Salad with a uni custard secret garden. A featured Valrhona cocktail will also be served as part of the tasting adventure. This intimate event is limited to 30 guests and reservations are required. A parting gift bag for each guest includes a Valrhona recipe, a tea selection by Palais des Thés and a Valley Brook Gateau de Voyage created by Chef Luke Frost.
