National Landing’s Garage Racing National Championships

Head underground for a full day of high-octane bike races at National Landing’s Garage Racing National Championships.

Saturday, February 22. Presented by the National Landing BID and CXHAIRS with support from JBG Smith, this unconventional event brings together the biking community and beyond for a fun (and unsanctioned) national competition. From fixed-gear and competitive races to the costume-friendly Anything Goes grand finale, race participants traverse the underground parking garage course for a spot on the 2025 winner’s podium. Spectators can cheer on the racers for free and enjoy a pop-up bar, local eats, and themed-activities at this not-to-be missed experience in National Landing.

“The Garage Racing National Championships are back and we invite adrenaline-driven racers and curious spectators alike to embrace this one-of-a-kind experience in the most unlikely of places – a garage,” said Rob Mandle, Deputy Executive Director of the National Landing BID. “This event embodies the creative, risk-taking, and can-do spirit that drives National Landing’s transformation into a vibrant urban hub where big, outside-the-box ideas can be tested and refined.”

• For Spectators: Attendees are invited to be part of the excitement and cheer on the cyclists from the sides while enjoying local food and beverage offerings from Acme Pies, Good Company Doughnuts and Port City Brewing Co. Bike-themed activities including stationary bike rides provided by HUSTLE will round out the event experience along with free National Landing swag giveaways. Admission is free; spectators are encouraged to RSVP in advance.

• For Race Participants: Those interested in racing can jump on the pedals by signing up at bikereg.com/garageracingnationals by Friday, February 21. No prior bike race experience is required! All race registration must be completed before the event.

• 11:00 a.m. – Junior Men and Women Championships (Ages 10-14)

• 11:45 a.m. – Novice Women’s Non-Championship Race

• 12:30 p.m. – Novice Men’s Non-Championship Race

• 1:15 p.m. – Women’s Fixed Gear Championship

• 2:10 p.m. – Men’s Fixed Gear Championship

• 3:05 p.m. – Non-Binary Championship Race

• 4:00 p.m. – Men’s National Championship Race

• 4:55 p.m. – Women’s National Championship Race

• 5:45 p.m. – Relay Race (4-person teams) Non-Championship

• 6:20 p.m. – Anything Goes

“The Garage Racing National Championships are unlike anything else in the cycling world, and CXHAIRS is excited to bring this high-energy, one-of-a-kind event back to National Landing,” said Bill Schieken, Owner and Operator at CXHAIRS. “This championship is all about pushing boundaries—whether it’s fixed-gear racing in a parking garage or showcasing incredible originality in the Anything Goes race.”

HUSTLE, a women-owned cycle and strength studio in National Landing, will bring stationary bikes for spectators to hop on and cycle alongside the racecourse for additional fun.

HOW: This event is FREE for spectators. Cyclists can register for races between $8 and $25. In the heart of Virginia’s largest walkable downtown, the Garage Racing National Championships is easily accessible by Metro, walking or biking. Parking is also available along 12th Street South.
