3rd Annual Spring Night Market
Michelin-honored Cantonese restaurant Tiger Fork and its sister bar Hi-Lawn once again come together to host their 3rd annual “Spring Night Market” — a traditional Chinese festival celebration on Thursday, May 14. They will transform the 1000-person rooftop atop Union Market, plus the building’s second-level Dock5 event space, into a lively Hong Kong night market, decked out with illuminated lanterns, food stalls from new-this-year guest chefs, pop-up shops from local artisans, cultural performances, DJs, baijiu and sake bars and more.
This is Tiger Fork & Hi-Lawn’s semiannual collaborative night market, the other being a Mid-Autumn mooncake festival in the fall, which draws thousands of attendees each year. May is National AAPI Heritage Month, and Tiger Fork & Hi-Lawn are bringing more than two dozen local restaurants and vendors to one of DC’s largest rooftops.
Tiger Fork’s executive chef Simon Lam will cook savory street food-inspired fare and unique sweets alongside guest chefs/restaurants such as Chai Pani, Canton Disco, Love, Makoto, CHIKO, Daikaya, CHIBOO, Dan Dan Boy, TOIMOI Bakery, Yume Asian Fusion, Yunnan by Potomac, Gwenie’s Pastries and more to be announced soon at food stands throughout the open-air rooftop and the covered Dock5 event space.
Guests can peruse specialty gifts and wares (such as jewelry, ceramics, artwork and more) from pop-up market stalls throughout the celebration.
Festival drinkers will enjoy a special Baijiu + Sake Bar, pouring China’s national spirit, plus an assortment of sake, and other liquor, cocktails, beer and wine.
There will also be cultural performances such as lion dancing from Shaolin Hung Fut Kung Fu School, face painting, a Dumpling Eating Competition sponsored by Laoban, and a DJ to keep the spirited energy going all night long.
Tickets to Tiger Fork and Hi-Lawn’s 3rd annual Spring Night Market are $5 on Eventbrite. All food, beverage and artisan crafts will be sold a la carte, first-come, first-served.
