Zorn Fired, Redskins Try Again

If you didn’t see it coming, you weren’t watching.

He had a tumultuous two seasons – and one year left on his contract – but most will say Redskin’s Head Coach Jim Zorn was doomed to fail. That re-run fake fieldgoal backfire didn’t help matters… But after a loss to the Chargers to end the season with the worst record in 15 years, 4 (wins) – 12 (losses), Zorn’s firing came as no surprise.

While he claimed to be working on the offseason schedule, he was more likely (and hopefully!) scheduling interviews with other franchises. Zorn – and the rest of the world – couldn’t overlook the obvious… and the embarassment, as he had already been stripped of duties to call plays earlier this season and then watched his own assistant coach, Jerry Gray, interview for his job while he was still in it.

A press conference is scheduled for 12:30 PM today where many anticipate an announcement of Mike Shanahan (Denver, Oakland) as the 7th Head Coach since Dan Synder bought the team in 1999.
