Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. You’re Invited: Love Letters for Literacy

February is a month to celebrate heart disease prevention, black history, groundhogs, grapefruits (seriously!), and love — or more specifically, love letters. 

So you won’t want to miss February 12th, when the Washington Literacy Council hosts the 20th Annual Love Letters for Literacy at the National Museum for Women in the Arts.

Guests will enjoy cocktails, canapés and a silent auction as authors and celebrity readers — to include Margaret Carlson (Contributor to The Atlantic, Columnist for Bloomberg View) and Jim VandeHei (Executive Editor and Co-Founder Politico) — read aloud personal letters of love and other selections.
