Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. You’ll catch her interviewing guests on DC’s NewChannel8′s Let’s Talk Live and showcasing products on BestBuy.com, as well as work appearing on NBC, Fox, Comcast and local print publications.

The Freer and Sackler Galleries present the first Asia After Dark of 2011 with a deep awareness of the tragic events that have unfolded in Japan and offer fervent wishes for the safety, recovery, and well-being of our Japanese friends.
  
Enjoy this evening of tribute to the magnificent art and fashion of Japan. View Japanese art in the galleries, then create and send messages of hope to friends and family in Japan. Dance to beats by the legendary DJ Steve Aoki and DJ Cassidy Karakorn, as well as sake cocktails and sushi bites. Interact with models wearing Harajuku fashions. Contribute wishes of well-being to a group poetry project and watch as it transforms throughout the night.
*Asia After Dark will host a give-by-text rally to benefit Japanese earthquake victims.
