When Spring sets in, one of DC’s loveliest places to linger is the Park Hyatt’s Blue Duck Tavern Terrace. Tuesday evening, Executive Chef Sebastien Archambault and Chef de Cuisine Daniel Singhofen invited a handful of local VIPs to experience the prime patio and celebrate some of the season’s freshest ingredients from regional artisans & producers — now on the BDT menu!
Greeted with copious signature handcrafted cocktails, guests gravitated toward a Tavern newcomer… the Southern Blossom, concocted with Prairie Vodka, Heering Cherry Liqueur, cherry blossom syrup, Amarena cherry, lemon bitters and soda water. This tempter was created to toast the 102nd Anniversary of the National Cherry Blossom Festival®, which honored the 1912 gift of the 3,000 cherry trees from Tokyo to the United States.
Satisfying bites were passed as well. Foie gras, duck breast and crab cake competed with salad stations, Smoked Trout Rillette and Wagyu Beef Tartare for foodie fan favorite status.
But the evening’s major must-not-miss?? Pasty Chef Naomi Gallego‘s Mint Chocolate Chip Push Up Pops, chilling in a a dry ice dish. Even with Spring’s milder weather, each bite was bliss and the haze of the cool ice floating away, heavenly.
Sweet — and savory — Spring.
