Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. Washington International Horse Show

Championship sport and a galloping good time. The Washington International Horse Show comes to the Verizon Center this October 25 – 30th. An equestrian tradition since 1958, WIHS attracts Olympians and other top horses and riders from around the world to compete for some $400,000 in prize money and titles.

About 500 horses will participate in show jumping, hunter and equitation events during the six-day show, along with special exhibitions, shopping and other horsing around.  

  • Tuesday evening: WIHS Children’s & Adult Hunter Championships
  • Wednesday evening: WIHS Adult Jumper Championships
  • Thursday evening: $20,000 Gamblers Choice Costume Class BARN NIGHT!
  • Friday evening: $25,000 Puissance (high-jump)
  • Saturday evening: $100,000 President’s Cup Grand Prix
  • Friday/Saturday: WIHS Equitation Classic Finals
  • Saturday: Kids’ Day from 10 am – 2 pm on F Street (free event held in a tent outside Verizon Center)
  • Sunday: Pony Hunters, Pony Equitation, Regional Finals
