The 3rd annual Thrive DC 5k — headlined by VIDA Fitness – took place the weekend before Thanksgiving in East Potomac Park. The entire community was invited to to join in for a simple, flat race through DC’s beautiful waterfront at Hains Point.
Starting with a VIDA led warm-up, and encouraged by the Tommy Show morning show team from 94.7 FM, run/walk participants took to the course with friends, family, kids… and even pets, to promote wellness as well as raising money for a great cause.
All race profits benefit Thrive DC – a non-profit organization committed to preventing and ending homelessness in the DC area. And this year’s record amount raised — $16,648.22 — has already been earmarked to provide critical services for homeless in the DC area including meals, shelter, shower, laundry services, and more.
Hundreds participated (including the author of this post), but the winner Mohammad Hamouri (BIB #98) impressed us all with his 17:16 finish.
