Union Arts Opens with pre-Cherry Blast Party

Union Arts and Manufacturing (UAM)– the brain child of DC creative Mike Abrams, previously of Gold Leaf art studios — held an opening celebration Friday night that included live Jazz and Funk music by Luke Stewart, free beer, and art installations from a number of local artists and photographers.

Abrams, who has played an integral role in the support of the DC arts scene for well over a decade, intends his new collaborative space to provide local artists with a place to create, share, exhibit, and meet… offering private studios throughout the warehouse, but also a communal public gallery on the first floor to display their work.

UAM gives Capital area creatives a spot to mix, mingle — and hopefully monetize — as did artists Kyrae Cowan, Deshaundon Jeanes, Paul Bothwell, Justin Poppe and others at the opening, offering their pieces for view and sale at the space’s premiere party before furthering the fun at the annual Cherry Blast event at a warehouse next door.
