Michael Schlow’s TICO Comes Soon to 14th Street

It was one of Esquire’s “Best New Restaurants in America” in Boston in 2011, and now, DC is set to have its own TICO restaurant, owned and operated by award-winning chef Michael Schlow, opening this month at 1926 14th Street, NW.ticodc2

“TICO is an affectionate name for a local in Costa Rica…”

Schlow’s first DC based venture — an American restaurant influenced by his travels to Spain, Mexico and Latin America — but found in the city his Father called home, TICO will offer various ceviches, tacos, small plates, a la plancha dishes, and entrees served family style (thanks again to Dear Old Dad!)

ticodcThe beverage program, overseen by director of operations Steve Uhr (formerly of Le Diplomate and Mike Isabella’s restaurants) will feature wines chosen from Spain, South America, and the United States as well as boasting an extensive list of rare tequilas and mescals with more than 125 selections.

Sounds like some mescal pairing menus are in the works!
