This Week, DC Shorts Brings You the “Top Chef,” “Project Runway” of Film

Whether it’s an hour to whip up a spectacular dish or design a jaw-dropping silhouette, part of what makes reality shows like Top Chef and Project Runway tick is, well, the time.

Now DC Shorts— DC’s renowned short film festival– is taking a cue from the networks. This Friday, seven filmmaking teams will listen to seven local storytellers deliver their stories to a live audience at Speakeasy DC. That night, each team will be assigned one of the stories, and will have just five days to write, shoot, and edit it into an eight-minute film to be screened the following Friday.

Sounds stressful? Be glad you’re not one of the film teams. With $1000 on the line, not to mention the prestigious accolades of DC Shorts– the largest short film festival on the East Coast, entering its tenth year– the competition is sure to be hot, fierce, and reel.
