Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. The Towering World of Jimmy Choo

Saturday afternoon, continuing the weekend of style at Bethesda Row, ‘The Front Row’ and DC Magazine hosted Lauren Goldstein Crowe, (speaking to fan at left) co-author of “The Towering World of Jimmy Choo” for a reception and reading of this brand new book.

A biography of the power and politics behind the Jimmy Choo brand, Lauren’s reading selection had the audience all wanting more. Luckily early arrivals secured a free copy of the book to devour as soon as they got home!

Some questions we always asked ourselves that are answered in this book: Is Jimmy Choo a real person? Yes. How did he start making shoes? In a tiny workshop… as a cobbler making signature luxury shoes for individual customers. Does he still own the brand? No -and that’s the best part of the book! What’s the story behind those high high heels? Well, you’re gonna have to read the book for that one, too!
