The Morning After

We all know the drill – you’ll wake up tomorrow morning surrounded by confetti, strewn party hats and noisemakers, and perhaps an empty bottle or two. What better way to welcome 2010 than to ignore the mess, indulge your appetite and have one more drink! Here are some of our favorite picks to cure what ails you…

Perry’s
1811 Columbia Rd NW, Washington, DC 20009
202-234-6218
The revelry continues at Perry’s in Adams-Morgan which will host a special New Year’s edition of its famous drag brunch tomorrow from 11am-3pm. The $22.95 “Brunch and Bellinis with the Queens” includes a complimentary bellini with your meal, not to mention waffles, quiche and eggs mixed with cross-dressing performers in sparkling evening gowns – Happy New Year to you!

Georgia Brown’s
950 15th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20005
202-393-4499
Also hosting a Friday edition of its famous Sunday brunch is Georgia Brown’s in downtown D.C. Diners can enjoy the $36.95 jazz brunch from 11am-4pm with specialty cocktails like the “Low Country Bloody Mary,” and Southern staples like black-eyed peas and collard greens to bring luck in the New Year.

Gin & Tonic
2408 Wisconsin Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20007
202-337-1958
For those more interested in football than jazz, head to Glover Park where Gin & Tonic owner, and former Georgetown University football player, Fritz Brogan will host an all-day game viewing party. Ward off your hangover with the restaurant’s specialty bloody marys, $7 Bud Light pitchers, and $4 mixed drinks. The bar will also serve food from neighboring partner restaurant, Kitchen 2404, with an a-la-carte brunch menu all day.

Crème Cafe
1322 U Street, NW, Washington, DC 20009
202-234-1885
If you find yourself on U Street, head to Crème Café between 11 am and 5 pm where the chefs will be whipping up their delicious brunch fare usually reserved for weekends only. Select from an a-la-carte menu of everything from chicken and waffles to poached eggs on crab meat, and imbibe bottomless mimosas and spicy bloody marys for $16.

And if you don’t wake up until the sun has gone down, head across the bridge to the Arlington Cinema N’ Drafthouse for a screening of “The Hangover,” touche! Doors open at 6:30pm with special prizes for the first ten people in line wearing pajamas! To get in free, go to @cinemadraft on Twitter and look out for the special tweeted password on Friday morning. But get there early – admission is first come, first serve.

And for those with the most endurance – the true revelers – head to McFadden’s Restaurant and Saloon in Foggy Bottom between 7pm and 10pm for free mimosas and a complimentary appetizer buffet.
