Tartan and Testosterone at Mad About Plaid

It was a chance for the St. Andrews men to don their kilts and hear the bagpipes play as Brooks Brothers joined the St. Andrews Society of IMG_8785Washington DC late last week for an in-store Scottish soiree.  Members of the club, along with their friends and some female fashionables, perused the preppy — and plaid — in preparation for the Scottish pageantry and tradition of the upcoming 64th Annual Grand Tartan Ball.

While all were welcome to this “Mad About Plaid” event and the Tartan Ball, the St. Andrews Society is a IMG_8787charitable and social organization exclusively for men of Scottish birth or ancestry. “Maybe we’ll let women in when the Daughters of the American Revolution let in men,” one member joked.  (We’ll save holding our breath for the bagpipes.)

IMG_8786Brooks Brothers’ “Mad About Plaid” boasted its own single malt scotch tasting, kilt fittings and traditional music.  Shoppers enjoyed a 15% savings on purchases made during the event and 10% of the evening’s net sales were donated to the the Washington Scots Charity and Education Fund.
