Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Her media portfolio includes a spread in Elle magazine and features on Inside Edition and BBC World News’ “The Real Cities” series. You’ll catch her interviewing guests on DC’s NewChannel8′s Let’s Talk Live and showcasing products on BestBuy.com, as well as work appearing on NBC, Fox, Comcast and local print publications.

Spreading Holiday Cheer

When I was asked to join the Marines and others in spreading holiday cheer around the Veterans Affairs Hospital in the District, I rearranged my schedule to be sure that I could go – how could I miss the opportunity to give back to those who have given so much for me??

It was certainly a night to remember! We visited, distributed holiday treats, played Bingo, posed for pictures with Santa, and listened to the stories of a lot of people who really have some to tell!

I do want to send a special note to my new friend, Jason, who didn’t seem to want to let me go… and Ron, whose enthusiasm for life was absolutely inspiring. And to all of the Marines who so unselfishly gave of their time, thank you for including me in such a wonderful effort.
