Smithsonian YB Gala: Roaring Twenties

The Wall Street crash of 1929 might have ended the era, but it certainly didn’t kill the spirit! The Roaring Twenties were a time when everything seemed to be feasible through modern technology – much like today!

In celebration of the time when amusement, fun, lightness and Jazz were King, the Smithsonian Young Benefactors will hold their annual gala on Saturday, May 16 (8 – 11 p.m.) at the Donald W. Reynolds Center for American Art and Portraiture (8th and F streets NW).

Lindy Hop and Charleston to the big band music of Raggs & The All-Stars, and feel good knowing that proceeds from ticket sales (for a limited time $90 members/$140 non-members) and auction purchases will benefit The Smithsonian Associates and the Young Benefactors’ Culture4Kids Fund, which provides opportunities for local youth to attend Discovery Theater performances and Smithsonian Summer Camp.

*The Smithsonian Young Benefactors is the largest museum-based membership organization of more than 1,000 young professional Washingtonians who are devoted to the future of the Smithsonian Institution. Members are culturally interested, active professionals who support the Smithsonian by building awareness, fundraising events and volunteer activities.
