Smithsonian at 8 Goes Indoors with its Garden of Colors

7During the day, the Smithsonian has thousands of visitors, but did you know that at night, your friendly museum turns into a trendspot?!

A series of signature “Smithsonian after 8” events bring guests a unique mix of culture, art, history, science, music, and cocktails.  Just earlier this month, the Smithsonian hosted “Party for the Season: A Garden Of Colors” after hours at the Enid A. Haupt Garden at the Smithsonian Castle — that red brick 6Smithsonian you’ve always wondered about (that’s actually the headquarters of the Smithsonian and an information center for tourists!)

The event was scheduled to feature tours of the garden for guests to enjoy the coming autumn colors and a pop-up beer garden.  Instead… the cold rainy weather moved everyone inside.   But this didn’t deter guests from entertainment (and education) as the party still boasted DJs spinning top 40s music echoing through the halls, a photo booth, dancing, and cocktails — while on the opposite side of the castle exhibits of art and history were on display with pumpkin painting and carving for guests.
