Savor This Pre-Theatre Dining Deal at BLT Prime

Tuna Tartare and Popovers at BLT Prime

Grab these eats before you grab your seats!

Before one of the latest shows to take the stage at National Theatre, we tasted the 3 course prix-fixe theatre menu at BLT Prime by David Burke($65/pp).  This elevated restaurant is a must-try, and not just for special occasions, despite its reputation for impeccable hospitality, service… and price. BLT Prime’s is a dining experience to be savored, and its pre-theatre menu makes it that much more accessible.

The pre-theatre menu is available from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, and while it may be earlier than you’re used to eating, we suggest you make your reservation as early as possible before your show. This is not because  BLT Prime’s service is slow (quite the contrary, in fact), but because you will want to linger over every bite.  Imagine running out of time and not getting to finish your decadent Chocolate and Peanut Butter Mousse dessert!

While each course is limited to four options, BLT Prime’s pre-theatre menu has a strong selection of the restaurant’s favorites, and doesn’t skimp on the portion size.  And, as with any meal at a BLT restaurant property, you’ll start with their signature pop-overs before choosing your three courses.

What to choose?  Based on our own selection variety we feel you can’t go wrong — every bite was sensational. Perhaps you start with the Ricotta Ravioli with braised beet greens and continue with the 5 oz Steak Frites fillet topped with truffle butter and served with a side of truffle fries. Or make it a celebration of seafood starting with BLT’s refreshing Tuna Tartare and continuing with the North Atlantic Salmon. Vegetarian options are also available — like the tempting Crispy Eggplant Parmesan.

If you’re lucky enough to be seated near the second floor balcony railing, you’ll have a theatrical experience even before your show, as you overlook the bustling lobby of the Trump International Hotel (and all the seeing and being seen that is always happening there).

After dinner, almost all of DC’s Theatre District is within a few blocks, and you’ll welcome the opportunity to walk off a little of the indulgence.  The National Theatre, Warner Theatre, and Ford’s Theatre are an easy five to ten minutes away on foot — mere blocks from BLT Prime — while the Shakespeare Theatre and Woolley Mammoth theaters are also nearby.

Pro tip: You don’t have to be heading to a theatre to take advantage of BLT Prime’s pre-theatre menu.  At $65, this is an amazing deal to enjoy hearty portions of some of BLT Prime’s signature dishes and savor that Prime atmosphere.
