Samba y Sangria

The Young Benefactors Group hosted a “Samba y Sangria” themed fundraiser Wednesday night to benefit the Institute for Responsible Citizenship—a nonprofit that provides educational, networking and mentoring opportunities to high-achieving African American men.
Held at the Eden Lounge rooftop in Farragut West, members and friends of the YBG professional network schmoozed over sangria and TamiCakes cupcakes to the sounds of DC-based Brazilian jazz band Origem, who have played the likes of the Kennedy Center and Jazz in the Garden. Though not an official arm of the Institute, YGB events exclusively benefit the organization.
“We’re connecting young professionals to a worthy cause,” said Corey Ponder of YBG. “[That is to say], leadership and development opportunities that [these young men] may not get otherwise.”
