Reading Runway

Cruella de Vil (right), Ben Hur, Narnia’s White Witch(left), Spartacus (lower left), Tinkerbell and other books-turned-silver screen sagas took to the runway for Heart of America‘s Sweet Charity chocolate fashion show.  But the Mad Hatter didn’t make it.  She melted.

The drama of Monday’s nights literacy fundraising event was as delicious as it was daunting.  City pastry chefs dressed models in chocolate and marzipan to depict characters of “Literacy on the Silver Screen.”

In a super chilled holding room, additions and alterations – and maybe just the teeniest bit of costume consumption – kept the chefs in action until the main event.  Meanwhile, their restaurant counterparts brought savories and sweets to share with waiting guests.
