Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Rare Sweets Opens with a Sweet Deal at CityCenterDC on Monday!

RareSweets, a bakeshop and specialty dessert company, is opening at CityCenter (963 Palmer Alley, NW) on Monday, and this sweet opening comes raresweetswith a sweet deal: The first 100 customers will receive a complimentary hot cocoa with purchase.

Originally a wholesale and catering business working out of Union Kitchen, a food incubator, RareSweets founder and pastry chef Meredith Tomason built on some pop-up success and decided to open her first brick-and-mortar bakeshop, featuring a menu of seasonally driven layer cakes, doughnuts, coffee cakes, mini bundts, cookies, bars, biscuits, ice creams… and so many and other temptations and “heirloom American confections reimagined for a modern palate.”

We’re craving the cocoa crinkles… from Tomason’s grandmother’s own passed down family recipe!
