Prost! to Capitol City Brewing Company’s 16th Oktoberfest

oktober4Last Sunday, Capitol City Brewing Company hosted its sixteenth annual Oktoberfest beer festival celebration at The Village at Shirlington. Although this year’s festival featured a smaller number of local brewers than in the past (due to a date change), the more than 65 regional breweries still garnered a large turnout.

Beer-drinkers and festivalgoers from the DC area dressed in traditional German garb and enjoyed tastes of authentic oktober3Bavarian brews, bratwurst, and oversized pretzels.

The event was even pet friendly — and many attendees enjoyed their pub favorites alongside their pooches.

Ale and lager samples came from several participating local, regional and national breweries included Starr Hill, Mad Fox, oktober6Fair Winds, Hellbender, Ocelot, Ballast Point, Firestone Walker, Blue Mountain, Green Flash, Parkway, Schlafly, St. George, Terrapin, New District, Adroit Theory, Avery and Hardywood

Capitol City Brewing Company, the first brewpub in the nation’s capital since Prohibition, featured their three signature Oktoberfest beers — the Dr. Punkinstein, Smoketoberfest and the popular Oktoberfest Lager.oktober2
