Postmates’ Local Delivery Set to Hit DC

Forget about just ordering a sandwich. You need a cell phone charger — stat! Postmates says its possible. Soon, DCers will have yet another way to have just about anything delivered to their door.

Postmates, a local delivery startup that already exists in San Francisco, Seattle and New York, is set to offer deliveries (8am-12am, 7 days a week) to a range of DC neighborhoods: Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, Georgetown, Adams Morgan, Cleveland Park, Woodley Park, Capitol Hill, SW Waterfront + National Mall, H St, Bloomingdale, Tenleytown and most of Columbia Heights.

Think of it like traditional courier services, but more tech-savvy. Yes, it’s remarkably useful for those restaurants still refusing to offer delivery (not so many of those anymore), but also for when you need a bottle of aspirin from CVS or an ink cartridge to print off that important project on your home printer.

Delivery fees are dependent on the duration and difficulty of the job — as well as on how busy the service is at a particular moment.

While the city’s official launch is still a few days away, Postmates is offering certain targetted influencers unlimited free deliveries through next Friday, December 13th to test out the app’s ability to order healthy salads from Sweetgreen, toiletries from CVS, groceries from Whole Foods, life juice from Starbucks…..
