PINEA’s Transformation at the W

The W Hotel is known for its spectacular views of DC at POV, but on March 6, guests and VIPs were invited to be part of a very different kind of visual experience.

Located downstairs (where you might remember J&G Steakhouse used to be) is PINEA, a swanky new bar and restaurant with a fresh Mediterranean cuisine theme by Chef Barry Koslow. Last Friday, guests and VIPs were invited to sip cocktails and taste the most tender hors d’oeuvres they’ve ever tried, while watching renowned street artist, Gaia, paint the walls – live.

Gaia airbrushed iconic American figures onto PINEA’s extensive walls, and the place transformed while DJ Dan Deacon heated up the party on PINEA’s main floor.

Around the corner and down a flight of steps, guests found solstice a small, cozy romantic whiskey cellar, where it’s rumored Obama is planning to visit soon. Next time you’re at the W, be sure to check out PINEA, which has the most amazing food, a soon-to-be massive original mural and a secret root cellar whiskey bar, complete with (classy) make-out corner.
