Don’t forget next Tuesday is St. Patrick’s Day!! DC has plenty of places to enjoy a green pint and some authentic and fun-filled Irish experiences starting this weekend — but of course we want to alert you to one of our favorites. Did you know that one Capitol Hill establishment — Kelly’s Irish Times — is not only known the world over for being one of the most celebrated Irish Pub’s in America, but it also has a brand new whiskey bar and a famous wall which boasts over 100+ years of history.
Check out memorabilia like Dublin Police Patches from the 1930’s, one-of-a-kind unopened beer bottles from the 1800s, antique galvanized ice buckets from Glasgow, torn DC football team Superbowl tickets, Sonny Jurgensen autographs… and more celebrity/politician what-nots than Ariel kept in her underwater grotto (ok, she’s not Irish, but she does have red hair!)
You’ll see why Kelly’s was chosen as one of Esquire Magazine’s Best Bars in America in 2014, as well as being named as one of the country’s top 10 Irish pubs by USA Today, Gayot.com and MSN.com as you chug and chow down on classics like Guinness Irish Stew and Corned Beef & Cabbage… and thank us when you realize that unlike so many other DC Irish establishments, Kelly’s doesn’t ever charge a St. Paddy’s day cover.
Kelly’s Irish Times is located at 14 F St. NW in Washington DC.
