When the Fourth falls mid-week, one’s only option is to take up the cause as a Great American… and party all week long!
DC’s most patriotically devout kicked off Independence Day celebrations at the Great American Festival at the Gaylord Hotel at National Harbor on Saturday. An all-day party featuring American party favors (drinks, food, and delirious dancing on the beach), the festival (put on by Lindy Promotions and HiBall Events) featured to music by such favorite as Eve 6, Ozomatli, See-I, DJ Neekola, Lost in Paris, DJ Chris Styles, Horrorscope, Skratch & Sniff, and The Dance Party.
Severe storms damaged the stage, but couldn’t put a damper on the insanity. All was fixed (just in time!) for a day of music, mayhem (or musical mayhem!), and a pre-Fourth festival ending with Great American fireworks shot straight off the pier.
