Among the things that made the annual Fashion for Paws event great this year were 1) a clean stage, 2) a simple runway show featuring wearable fashions for humans and crazy costumes for REAL stars of the show, and 3) an obvious emphasis on the putting the dogs – not the two-legged ladies and gents — in the spotlight.
The Washington Humane Society (WHS) hosted its 8th Annual Fashion for Paws Runway Show (F4P) and fundraiser on Saturday at the Omni Shoreham Hotel. Chaired by Dr. Ashley Gallagher and featuring Co-Host emcees WJLA’s Scott Thuman and Dr. Katy Nelson, F4P 2014 featured the latest in fashion trends – for people and their pets – with over 45 human fundraising models supporting the work of the humane society.
A runway and audience set-up this year provided by Design Foundry (and sponsored by Audi), welcomed over 1,000 guests to cheer on their favorite model — like top fundraiser Denise Willard who walked with her three rescue dogs, Amanda Polk who might have had the loudest cheering section, and Lindsey Marie Davidson with a major Mastiff — as they strutted their stuff dressed by the luxury retailers of Tysons Galleria, (hair and makeup by Toka Salon & Day Spa). The canines were outfitted by Wagtime.
And this year those pups weren’t just on parade — they were the personalities of the party. A video that ran before the runway show allowed each dog to introduce himself/herself, Real Dogs of Fashion for Paws style, giving each his/her own voice as a creature for the cause.
