[Party Pix] Inside CLC’s “Helping Children Soar” Benefit

Last week at Steptoe & Johnson LLP was recognized for “Helping Children Soar” at a benefit gala by the same name put on by the Children’s Law Center (CLC) at the Kennedy Center.  Receiving the 2013 Children’s Pro Bono Champion award, the law firm, which has been a CLC partner for over a decade, has built a specific expertise in adoption and guardianship cases, and has helped to make sure that neglected children have the life-long support of loving families.

CLC, a non-profit organization which works to give every child in the District of Columbia a solid foundation of family, health, and education, is known to provide free legal services to at-risk children and their families for issues of abuse, neglect, or extreme parental conflict, as well as children with special education or health needs.

Among those specific individuals honored at the Gala were Steptoe partner Gary Morgans who has handled more than a dozen pro bono cases, many of them complex and contested adoptions that require extra skill and attention.  Steptoe partner Biz Scott and counsel Erica Gerson were also recognized guests in attendance.
