Kate Michael, @kstreetkate, is a Writer/Model/On-Camera Host and Event Emcee. Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. [Party Pix] Donning Bowties & Belles on Derby Day

The Junior Friends of the Campagna Center held the 3rd annual Bowties & Belles, a Kentucky Derby party, Saturday at Collingwood Library and Museum on the Potomac.  The afternoon event included a raffle, silent auction, cocktail reception (featuring the official Derby cocktail, the Mint Julep, of course!) and a viewing of Kentucky Derby races.

Dressed in seersucker, bow ties, florals, fascinators and other festive hattery, guests placed bets on their picks for winning (and losing!) horse and enjoyed an afternoon/evening of camaraderie for a cause.  Proceeds from the event helped to support the early childhood and family service programs of the Campagna Center.
