Americans in Paris (and those that wish they were!) stormed the Corcoran for a soiree last Friday night gussied in their glammest and glitziest. It was the 1869 Society’s (named for the year the private art museum was established) annual Fall Fete, with a theme surrounding the reinstallation of the Corcoran’s historic American art collection, American Journeys, and most specifically Visions of Place, which is a section devoted to the ways in which American artists were inspired by France.
The event served to benefit Corcoran ArtReach, providing arts education activities, classes, and so much more to underserved youth in the DC area… and brought some 800 guests to fill the atrium, meander through some of the open exhibitions and can-can with their cocktails.
Among the social notables in attendance were Rory and Lauren Pillsbury, Andrew Stein, Jennifer Key, Katherine Kennedy and Grant Allen, Ryan Forsythe, Taryn Fielder and the Pink Line Project’s Philippa Hughes.
