Oscar Night DC

The Red Cross of the National Capital Area was one of the biggest winners last night, thanks to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences (The Oscars). The charity was chosen to hold the only officially sanctioned Oscar viewing party in the DC area – and it the party got almost as much hype as Slumdog Millionaire (well, I said almost…)! Congrats to Slumdog on the big win for Best Motion Picture of the year!!

A sold out crowd in their black tie finest walked the red carpet to the event held at the Hard Rock Cafe. Emcee Pamela Brown and critic Arch Campbell from ABC7 – WJLA helped make the night… as did event hosts Pamela Sorensen and David Marra.A Gibson guitar, signed by OAR went by live auction to my good friend John Tsaknis, raising over $1100 for the efforts of the Red Cross. Ticket sales, the silent auction, and the most generous donation of presenting sponsor Michael Saylor put the charity over the top this year… allowing it to continue to do such great work as welcoming soldiers home to this area, disaster relief efforts, blood drives, and so much more!
