Of Volunteers and Viability

Co-Creator/Producer Michael Dougherty, w/Cast & Crew

A film and set made entirely of volunteers, Browncoats: Redemption, premiered at the Arlington Drafthouse Sunday evening.  This fan-made space Western sequel to Serenity and its television series predecessor, Firefly, made its debut to eagerly waiting enthusiasts with proceeds from DVD sales benefiting five charities; Equality Now, Kids Need to Read, The Dyslexia Foundation, The Al Wooten Jr. Heritage Center, and Marine Corp Law Enforcement Foundation.

“This film, made by the fans for the fans, is a charity project created through our love of the Firefly/Serenity universe.  We are prepared to accomplish the impossible: create a direct to DVD feature-length film… with all proceeds going to five charities.  It will only be successful and do the greatest amount of good for the charities with the continued support of the dedicated fanbase,” said co-creator and producer Michael Dougherty.
