Notable Neighborhood News: Georgetown

Rumors about the Popals, the family behind such culinary hotspots as Napolean Bistro and Bonaparte, opening a European dessert bar in lower Georgetown are affirmed Omar Popal in an e-mail exchange with K Street Kate this morning.  However, the lounge is coming – even if the Popals are not in on the action.  A new liquor license has been granted to Ma Maison, a Euro lounge and exotic cocktail bar set to take the place of the old Hibiscus Cafe at 3401 Water Street, complete with DJ and dancing.

Seems there’s a moratorium on the moratorium of new liquor licenses. Georgetown has also approved a new license for an American style family eatery, tentatively named Come to Eat, located at 3220 O Street.

Motorists can now make a left turn from M Street onto Wisconsin Ave. heading East.  The ‘No Left Turn’ sign has been removed and a protected traffic arrow installed.  Georgetown residential streets West of Wisconsin rejoice!

The Georgetown Library is set to re-open on October 18th to much fanfare.
