NFTE is Nifty

At Wednesday night’s annual NFTE Dare to Dream Gala, the big announcement was that NFTE was changing it’s name. But how!? Why!? NFTE was so nifty! Well, it still will be. The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship will now be the Network For Teaching Entrepreneurship. Still totally NFTE.

And the cause of the program is totally nifty as well. Since 2006 I have been a supporter of this middle/high school elective course that teaches youth to build up their potential and consider creating their own businesses.

The speaker’s podium was a veritable roundrobin of rockstars. From Gala Chair Don Peebles, speakers Senator Mark Warner, Mayor Adrian Fenty, and Honoree Mark Ein, to Mistress of Ceremonies (and 17 year old entrepreneur) Jada Nicome, attendees had the chance to learn a bit about why entrepreneurs are interested in helping other entrepreneurs to succeed. And a showcase of the students’ wares allowed them an introduction to the youths’ business plans – and the chance to be an early patron!

A big thank you to Vice Chair Caroline Alexander for allowing me to join her at her table and network with some professional, philanthropic and personable new friends.
