Summer 2011, the National Geographic Museum hosts an exhibition recounting the challenges of two exploring teams during their race to reach the South Pole 100 years ago. May 25 – August 21, “Race to the End of the Earth” follows Norwegian Roald Amundsen and British Robert Falcon Scott with photographs, paintings and real artifacts – including the last letters of some of the lost explorers.
*In conjunction with the exhibition, National Geographic Live will host research scientist Ross MacPhee to lecture on the significance of the race (June 13), a family day featuring films about Scott and Amundsen (June 18) and an illustrated talk with polar explorer Christian Eide (July 6).
