“Ms. J” Alexander Keeps it Real on the FBL Expo Runway

“Fashion is for everyone, trend is not,” suggested Next Top Model runway coach “Ms. J” Alexander before hosting this weekend’s Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle Expo at the Washington Convention Center.

Sporting a “couple of years old” Marc Jacobs suit and some brand new Marc Jacobs shoes (that “hurt, but you won’t know it!”), Alexander told how he got his start (“minding other peoples’ business!”), gave some style advice and even critiqued a few walks before co-hosting the Expo and between the event’s 17 fashion shows — which also featured ANTM Season 8 winner Jaslene Gonzalez, NBC Fashion Star Nikki Poulus and the latest collection from Project Runway’s Anya Ayoung-Chee.

Here he helps judge a “Rock the Runway” competition comprised of individuals in attendance at the Expo, as selected by stylist Kara Allan:

And just what does he think of fashion in the Capital City? “It’s my first time in DC and I’m finding it to be quite conservative, though there are those who are stylish.”
