Decorated guest speakers General Carter F. Ham, USA, Ret. and Sergeant Major Tracey E. Anbiya [Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army Installations, Energy and Environment] provided welcome remarks while families enjoyed a complimentary buffet brunch catered by Marriott Marquis. Fun for kids included interactive pancake-making and cookie-decorating stations to make sweet treats for Mom–with help from a walkabout Elmo donated by the Sesame Workshop! The event concluded with a surprise video address from everyone’s favorite bilingual Muppet, Rosita.

“Last year this very special brunch was our hotel’s first catered group event upon opening and we cannot think of a more fitting anniversary celebration. AUSA has been an extraordinary partner for our hotel,” said Dan Nadeau, general manager, Marriott Marquis Washington, DC. “We are proud and humbled to again honor the significant contributions and sacrifices made by the exceptional families that are part of the U.S. armed forces.”
