The final weeks of Fall are upon DC, and there is no place better to enjoy the foliage than the Georgetown Waterfront. Whether you’re looking for brunch, lunch or dinner – you’ve got to try Mama Rouge – the newest swanky Thai restaurant in the area.
Located at what used to be Bangkok Joe’s, the owners have revamped Mama Rouge’s layout and menu, the new space is open, bright with kisses of red rouge.
At the opening party Tuesday night, guests were invited to try a few of their new dishes. St. Germaine’s and stiff cocktails with only the finest goose were paired with savory favorites like the traditional Thai crab and scallion pancakes, various flavors of Thai curry, and the crab cakes topped with Mama Rouge’s housemate Sriracha or spicy mayo.
Mama Rouge isn’t an Asian fusion; the owners encourage you to mix and match your choice of small plates to try the flavors of Southeast Asia the way you want them. We wish the best for this authentic Southeast Asian spot, and were glad to be part of the traditional Thai flower ceremony which granted good luck on the new restaurant.
*Mama Rouge is located at 3000 K Street NW.
