Local Fashion Highlighted at Hecht Warehouse Show

20160414_193633_3_bestshotIt doesn’t actually take looking very hard to find that DC has a fashion sense that goes beyond suits and blouses.

Late last month, The Hecht Warehouse at Ivy City became the place for a fashion show that celebrated this — and so many of the local DC designers and retailers that make Beltway fashion even better.   The fashion event included a runway show that highlighted clothes from Elite Fitz, Rosies and Rockers, Brown & Williams Clothiers, Mila & Fire, Carrie Rockwell, Beyond the Velvet Rope Boutique, Michelle C. Gibson, and Fordam Rowe (also known as Deborah Mdurvwa).20160414_201449_2_bestshot

The fashion show was carefully timed, with approximately 10-minute increments in between fashion brands, which allowed revelers to prepare themselves for the next sequence of outfits – kind of like a palate cleanser.

This was an event where expressing yourself through style was expected, but not formally required. A lot of female attendees 20160414_190419_3_bestshotwore heels, jewelry, jackets, and patterns that showed individuality and attention to detail.

The fashion show reflected a diverse array of styles for to choose from, especially for women. Elite Fitz combines classic clothing with bold accents, Rosies and Rockers was more edgy, Carrie Rockwell showed an elegant side, Michelle C. Gibson had dresses that made the wearers stand out, Mila & Fire and Beyond the Velvet Rope Boutique were more casual, and Brown & Williams Clothiers and Fordam Rowe presented preppy clothing.

Downstairs, the fashion designers and retailers were selling their wares, some of which were just seen at the fashion show 20160414_190540_5_bestshotupstair!  And with prices so affordable – many of the items were under 100 dollars — this fashion scene was a steal.
