Laying Down the Law: The WPCF Congressional Dinner & Afterparty

Wednesday night, “those who make the laws and those who cover them” came together in the Mandarin Oriental’s Grand Ballroom for the 67th annual Washington Press Club Foundation Congressional Dinner.

At one time also called a “Stunt Party,” the evening featured a bit of comedy stand-up by emcee ABC News’ Jake Tapper (who filled in for Christiane Amanpour as she is on assignment in Egypt) and accompanying almost-as-funny bits by Senators Chris Coons and Kelly Ayotte, Congressman Sean Duffy and Congresswoman Terri Sewell.

The Hill‘s afterparty took over the ballroom’s foyer immediately following the main event, offering more drinks, schmoozing… and a performance by The Second Amendments – a bi-partisan rock/country band which lead Representative Collin Peterson tells us could be a reference to firearm rights… but is actually so named because they replaced his first band, The Amendments, after they broke up.
