There’s a lot to showcase in The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ 50th Anniversary season. In addition to the grand reopening of its stages and campus, the performing arts center is back in a big way starting September 2021.

“I can think of no better way to reemerge from the darkness of these last many months than to reopen with a vibrant, season-long celebration of the Center’s rich history and the bright future of the arts in our nation,” said Kennedy Center President Deborah F. Rutter.

The anniversary kick-off event — September 14, 2021 — will be a special evening featuring the preeminent artists of our time curated and hosted by Michael Tilson Thomas. But while everyone certainly is clamoring to get back in the audience for theater, opera, and dance, the Center has also announced plans to unveil two immersive, interactive exhibits as well as a new life-sized bronze statue of John F. Kennedy on the lower garden grounds of the REACH.

Ticket sales will open soon for the curated 50th anniversary season, but also mark your calendar as the Kennedy Center will host two consecutive weekends (September 11–12, 18–19) of performances and free activities on the REACH campus!
