Friday marked the opening of Kate Spade Saturday in Georgetown. It won’t be hard to find — it’s in exactly the same place you used to go to salivate over the more expensive Kate Spade collection items on M Street. Those have moved across the street (to where Juicy Couture used to be!), and now this lower-level brand from the eponymous designer, can make your wardrobe all preppy and cute while your wallet stays just a little more happy.
Just what is Kate Spade Saturday? Well, it’s not just weekend wear.
You’ll find clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories that inspire a Saturday “style feeling” according to Kyle Andrew, senior vice president and brand director for Kate Spade Saturday.
The brand is meant to appeal to younger women — maybe the eventual Kate Spade customer — but even the (maybe just ever so slightly older than brand target) Andrew tells us she still covets a plaid mini that she’s been eyeing on the sales floor.
Seems Saturday should be a state of mind.
