It was the first time in Mylan World Team Tennis‘ 38-year history that the championship team was invited to the White House.

Monday, just prior to the Washington Kastles‘ home opener at The Wharf (which they won), the team was greeted by President Obama for a private meeting in the Oval Office.  Still reveling in their narrow 20-19 victory over the Sacramento Capitals last September, the Kastles, led by Finals MVP Venus Williams, were elated to have the President and First Lady share in their celebration of winning the 2012 Mylan WTT title.

Representing the 2012 championship squad at the White House visit were Williams, Male MVP Bobby Reynolds, Leander Paes, Anastasia Rodionova, 2012 Coach of the Year Murphy Jensen, and Kastles owner Mark Ein as well as Mylan WTT co-founder Billie Jean King and CEO/Commissioner Ilana Kloss.

Did you know??! The Kastles currently boast a tie with NBA’s 1971 – 72 LA Lakers for most consecutive major pro sports team wins (33).  They attempt a new record tonight as they take on the Boston Lobsters at Kastles Stadium at the Wharf in Washington, DC.
