Notable as the Founder and current Editor-At-Large of K Street Magazine, Kate started the site while serving as Miss District of Columbia 2006 and competing in Miss America (2007). Currently, Kate works as a professional spokesperson and model, walking the runway for such industry icons as Valentino, Derek Lam, Naeem Kahn and Oscar de la Renta. Karma Dictates an “Emerald Spring”

Paying homage to the pantone color of the year, Erwin Gomez and Hu’s Wear hoped to entice the arrival emeraldspring3of warmer weather — and a fresh wardrobe — with an Emerald Spring event Wednesday night at Karma by Erwin Gomez.

Surrounded by orchids, callow lilies, tulips and hydrangeas (from Le Printemps), guests wandered the West End “garden” salon of style — with flutes of Moet and Chandon champagne in hand — toasting the new season and Gomez’s newemeraldspring2 make-up line as they gleaned fashion and styling tips from Hu’s Wear prepped models sporting the latest from labels like Lavin and Herve Leger.

Select VIP guests (author included!) lined up for one of Alexia’s mini-manicures between celeb stalking Top Chef Spike Mendelsohn (who was in attendance post afternoon haircut with Karma stylist Peggy Iaokim) and dishing with Gomez on his emeraldspring4upcoming celebrity make-up and eyebrow appointments.

The event also served as a fundraiser for the upcoming Fashion for Paws event to benefit the Washington Humane Society, with attendees purchasing Spring Awakening Raffle tickets for chances to win coveted Karma salon products.
