Jumpstart: Scribbles, Nibbles… and Novels

Scribbling is just the start.  Jumpstart, a national early education organization, leapt from  playtime to published in its celebration of the written word as it held its annual Scribbles to Novels event in DC Monday night at the University Club.
The unique event offers the chance to meet well-known authors, like Claire Shipman, contributor to ABC News’ Good Morning 
America and New York Times bestselling author; Steve O’Brien, acclaimed author of Elijah’s Coin: A Lesson for Life and Natalie Wexler, award-winning author of The Mother Daughter Show, who highlighted the importance of literature and education in their lives –and raised awareness of Jumpstart’s mission: To work toward the day every child in America enters school prepared to succeed.
Award winning author R.Dwayne Betts (keynote) and special guest Bob Dorough, of Schoolhouse Rock! fame, also basked in the the crowd of bibliophiles’ curiosity.
